“There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat;
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.”
― William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar
Yeah, that’s right, a Shakespeare Quote. Anyway, if you’re reading this, you are interested in building Powertown with us. We’re going to be vague here because we like talking in person better. But here’s the TL;DR
Mission, Obsession, Clarity, Resources, Traction
We believe that if you give a human a clear, rooted mission, they will chase it at full capacity. And they will win.
Powertown is using battery storage to stitch resilience into our electric grid faster than ever before. Our team wakes up every day and chases that outcome.
We are early. The opportunity is huge. We are building a company that we want to work on for the next 30 years. With pilots going live and customers lining up, this next year will be the most intense. We are looking for four awesome people who are willing to drop it all and build America’s next great company with us. Time to become even more inevitable.

FOUNDING SOFTWARE ENGINEER
We need a full-stack software engineer who can build the bridge between our core modeling tools and customer-facing delivery. You’ll be responsible for integrating external APIs, building internal data pipelines, and developing simple dashboards or reports that make our pricing outputs actionable for customers and investors.
WHAT YOU OWN
How it all comes together
Integrate external APIs (utility tariff databases, ISO feeds, EMS partners, interval data sources).
Build a backend pipeline that ingests data → runs models → outputs customer-ready results.
Collaborate with the Energy Modeler to expose modeling outputs through a clean interface.
Design lightweight customer-facing tools (e.g., savings report PDFs, simple dashboards).
Ensure data accuracy, logging, and version control for investor credibility.
Design algorithms to optimize asset routing across multiple sites and seasons.
Build time-series simulation models for multi-site portfolios.
Create our process for getting world-grade insights.
QUALIFICATIONS
Cool person. Integrity. A little ruthless. Bought in.
3–6 years of experience in software engineering or data integration (ideally in energy/fintech/logistics).
Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, and database management.
Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
Ability to collaborate with technical modelers and non-technical sales/customer leads.
Comfortable in early-stage environments (wear multiple hats, iterate fast).
We are seeking an Energy Storage Modeling Engineer to build the core savings and pricing engine that underpins our business. You will lead the development of site-level financial models for demand charge management, curtailment mitigation, and other customer-side value streams. Your work will directly shape how we price battery subscriptions and prove ROI to customers and investors.
ENERGY STORAGE MODELING ANALYST
WHAT YOU OWN
Predictable outcome!
Develop detailed load analysis and peak demand shaving models using interval data (15-min, hourly).
Overlay customer tariffs (demand charges, TOU, Global Adjustment) to quantify savings potential.
Simulate battery dispatch strategies (peak shaving, TOU arbitrage, backup) under different load and tariff scenarios.
Build tools to quickly generate site-specific subscription prices for prospective customers.
Validate models against real-world customer bills and pilot results.
Collaborate with data engineers to integrate models into Powertown’s predictive deployment platform.
QUALIFICATIONS
Cool person. Integrity. A little ruthless. Bought in.
At least two years of experience in energy storage, DER modeling, or utility tariff analysis.
Proficiency with Python (pandas, NumPy, pyomo or similar optimization libraries).
Deep understanding of utility tariffs, demand charges, and BTM savings mechanisms.
We need a sales leader who can originate and close partnerships with property owners, REITs, and portfolio managers. You’ll be the face of Powertown to the real estate world — securing pilot customers, educating decision-makers, and building the pipeline that scales us from 2 pilots to 100+ deployments.
DIRECTOR OF REAL ESTATE PARTNERSHIPS
WHAT YOU OWN
Sales & Customer Success
Originate and close new CRE customers (REITs, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, ski resorts, etc.).
Build portfolio-level relationships: move beyond one-off pilots to multi-site, multi-year deals.
Translate Powertown’s technical value (peak shaving, resilience, subscription pricing) into a simple, ROI-driven customer story.
Own the sales cycle: prospecting → pitch → term sheet → handoff to ops.
Partner with the modeling team to produce credible customer savings reports.
Help refine pricing models and standard contract templates based on customer feedback.
Serve as early “customer success” lead — ensuring deployments are smooth, and customer trust is built.
QUALIFICATIONS
Cool person. Good heart. A little ruthless. Bought in.
5+ years in CRE sales, energy services sales, or B2B SaaS selling into real estate portfolios.
Networked in commercial real estate (prior roles at CBRE, JLL, Cushman & Wakefield, Brookfield, Blackstone RE, or similar is a huge plus).
Ability to speak both financial ROI (payback, lease structures, OpEx savings) and operational ease (turnkey, low-disruption).
Track record of multi-million-dollar enterprise deal cycles.
High EQ: can sell both to CFOs and facilities managers.
